Southington YMCA Addition Opens with a Splash

Newfield Construction was proud to build the YMCA's newly renovated Natatorium and observation decks. The project began as an ADA project, with the need for elevator access to the pool area, and evolved into a project with appeal for generations to come, including a large second story pool viewing deck.

Norwalk Fire Headquarters Wins CT Green Building Council Award

As the Construction Manager for the new Norwalk Fire Headquarters LEED Gold facility, Newfield Construction participated actively to gain all LEED credits for this remarkable building. Housing not only the apparatus bays and fire fighters living quarters, it also houses the City's Data Center, Regional Emergency Operations Command and an Indoor Training Facility.

Southington middle schools celebrate completion of renovation project

As Mike Sciota walked in and out of classrooms at Kennedy Middle School Sunday afternoon, he remembered his first day as a teacher in 1964, when the school was first built. “This was a combination of cooking and sewing classes back in the day,” Sciota said to his wife Anne as they walked around the newly-renovated building.

Contractors In Place To Work On Weaver High School

Designs for the renovation of Weaver High School are being developed now that two architectural firms have been selected for the massive project in the city's North End. The S/L/A/M Collaborative in Glastonbury and Amenta Emma Architects in Hartford will draw up renovation plans for the 40-year-old building.

Norwalk dedicates state-of-art fire headquarters

City officials dedicated the Fire Department's new headquarters on Connecticut Avenue, a $13 million building that enables firefighters to train inside the structure. "We were fortunate to incorporate that into the building," said fire Capt. Edward McCabe during a tour of the three-story headquarters before the dedication ceremony began. "This allows us to train while we're in district, while we're still on duty."

Journalism & Media Academy Hosts an Inspirational Dedication Ceremony

City and district officials gathered on Tuesday, October 1st for a ceremony to dedicate the Journalism and Media Academy Magnet School building at 150 Tower Avenue, the renovated site of the former Barbour Elementary School. The $37.4 million makeover includes a TV studio, recording studio, surround-sound movie theater, radio station, editing suites, numerous computer labs and flat panel display monitors.

AGC Superintendent of the Year Finalist - Ray Pellerin (2010)

Newfield is proud to announce Ray Pellerin as a Finalist for the 2010 AGC Industry Recognition Awards. He awarded this honor at ceremony of his peers held at the Aqua Turf. Construction was not Ray's first choice after High School and Trade School. He was interested in Diesel Mechanics and his first few jobs were for trucking and retail gasoline businesses.

Cathedral Green Awarded 2010 Hartford Preservation Alliance Award (2010)

An initiative of the Archdiocese of Hartford to fill a need in the Asylum Hill community for housing, Cathedral Green was borne to bring low-income housing to families on the verge of homelessness. This 60,000 adaptive reuse of the old St. Joseph Cathedral School has provided 28 two- and three-bedroom apartments to the community.
