As Construction Manager, beginning in Schematic Design phase, Newfield is now constructing the new Cutler Hall Dormitory, a 25,000 square foot building consisting of single and double rooms for 50 students as well as 4 faculty apartments. Living and dining rooms with small prep kitchens, study rooms and a large commons area with mezzanine afford the students areas to socialize and study. A 4,000 square foot basement will house mechanical space, laundry room and storage for faculty and student residents.
The project’s site is at the heart of the campus and the adjacent Island Road and Rockefeller Quad must be kept open at all times. Intricate phasing and sequencing, site logistics and safety plans, material deliveries and off-site storage are required to keep Loomis’ students and staff safe.
Newfield was also hired to manage the construction of a previously planned underground utility relocation that bisects the Cutler Hall site as well as abatement and demolition of the existing building on this site.
