Newfield Construction provided Construction Management services for the new Moser School in Rocky Hill. The new 79,150sf school serves to alleviate overcrowding in the Town’s two existing kindergarten through 5th grade schools by relocating the Town’s 4th and 5th grade students to the new school. The project was subject to CT DAS Office of School Construction Grants and Review (OSCG&R) requirements. The new school was built on the site of the former Moser School, which was demolished prior to the construction of the new school.
The school’s focus is to integrate Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education across the curriculum. The building provides space and equipment to effectively nurture problem-solving skills through hands-on learning with the Connecticut Science Standards embedded.
The project scope included 26 classrooms, 6 of which are large science laboratory classrooms outfitted for general studies and STEM learning, a full-sized gymnasium, cafetorium and media center. In addition, the complex site was reimagined to include redesigned athletic fields for baseball, softball, soccer and lacrosse for use by the school and the community.
