Newfield Construction led in providing construction management services via a joint venture during the renewal of the old Weaver High School for the City of Hartford. This multi-phased renovated “neighborhood” high school focuses its learning on three academies – Kinsella School of Performing Arts, Journalism & Media, and High School, Inc.

The existing building was designed for a student body 2500, and the renovated facility will educate 975, requiring an innovative approach for proper sizing so that maximum project funding was realized from the State. This High-Performance Building Standards facility has 295,000sf of classrooms, everyday support spaces, and a 90,000 sq ft fieldhouse with a gymnasium, locker rooms, weight rooms, and a natatorium.

The Weaver High School project included the complete renovation of the existing 95,000 sq ft Doc Hurley Fieldhouse on the Weaver High School Campus, including a natatorium, indoor track, basketball courts 9 (practice & competition), volleyball courts, weight rooms, wrestling, locker rooms, trainer & first aid facilities, equipment storage, and achievement in sports displays. Outdoor work included new baseball, softball, and soccer natural turf fields and nine new post-tensioned tennis courts.
