Newfield completed multiple projects at Bradley International Airport prior to its 2003 Terminal 'A' grand opening. Newfield was fortunate to have the ability to contribute to this project of substantial relevance to the Hartford Region.
Terminal A Building Expansion
Newfield provided the general trades package for the 260,000 square foot expansion of Terminal A and the East Concourse building. The expansion included 12 new gates and jet bridges, airline operations and maintenance, ticket counters, waiting areas, baggage, ground transportation areas and concessions. Newfield personnel were required to obtain top security clearances for this post-9/11 facility development.
Truck Maintenance Complex
Newfield acted as General Contractor on Bradley International Airport's new truck maintenance complex. Three new buildings, an extended taxiway and underground utilities were included as part of this contract. Newfield worked closely with the Connecticut Air National Guard, the sites adjacent neighbor, to coordinate underground utility access in order to provide services to the site. Our team also worked under high security clearances to meet the needs to TSA and DOT.
Administration Building
Newfield constructed a new 50,000sf administrative building which included offices, classrooms, locker rooms, truck wash facilities, engine shop, carpentry areas and 6 high-bay storage areas for airport maintenance vehicles.
Main Garage
A 113,000sf new garage was constructed with 24 high-bay areas for vehicle storage, and including an area to house fire pumping equipment.
Hazmat Storage Building
Newfield built a 5,000sf fully-contained hazmat storage facility. This full concrete structure maintains the self-containment of all systems, creating an explosion proof environment.
Tenant Shops (3)
Traveling through the new Terminal is now exciting for passengers, with the help of high-end retail shops within the secured area. Newfield assisted the Paradies Shops in creating this inviting retail environment by providing a fast-track schedule delivered on a tight budget.
