Vertical Church, formerly Living Word Ministries, began 1978 as a small home Bible study with four people. The congregation moved to several locations to accommodate their continued growth as the years passed. Newfield Construction remodeled the concourse, presenting challenges for guests and members. The building was initially designed based on the dual use of a school and a Church. Because the school is now inactive, the Church is faced with the exciting opportunity to redesign the concourse to reflect better the high priority and value they place on relationships.

Interior renovations included opening the Commons area, relocating the cafe, creating a new check-in desk for the children, adding storage rooms in the existing sanctuary, and reducing the sanctuary to accommodate a maximum of 1,100 seats. Enclosure and extension were added to the current stage with a new fire-resistant construction for hidden wiring. Renovations were made to the existing office area, including the waiting and reception areas.
