The blighted Hartford Jai Alai site on the corner of Jennings Road
on “dealer’s row” was in dire need of redevelopment.
Boch Enterprises, New England’s exclusive distributor of
Subaru’s took ownership and contracted with Harte Auto Group
of Meriden to run and eventually purchase the operations. This
was the second facility nationwide to use Subaru’s new building
design guidelines.
The new Harte Subaru car dealership is 30,000 square feet and is
ranked as the largest Subaru dealership in North America in terms
of square footage. A 6,200 square foot highly sophisticated showroom
featuring a large curved glass wall showcases the cars and now
boasts the largest showroom in North America and expects to become
the largest in sales volume within its first year of operation.
The main floor also offers the service and parts departments, inclusive
of an 8,500 square foot maintenance garage. Office space and new
car delivery areas complete the main level. Public spaces within
this dealership offer high-end finishes, including a comfortable
waiting area with fireplace and flat screen television, where customers
can relax in comfort. The second level mezzanine space opens to
the showroom below and offers additional office space, general
and parts storage. The outdoor lot includes 496 display spots and
76 for customer parking.
The project was fast-tracked, with design completed in 3 months
and construction completed in 7 months on December 15, 2006 so
that sales could begin prior to Christmas. This facility is projected
to become the number one seller of Subaru’s in North America
within its first year.
