The main branch of the Hartford Library required a significant renovation and expansion to accommodate the needs of its growing patronage. Newfield completed a major four-story expansion to the existing facility and executed extensive renovations. Constructing the addition and adjoining parking garage over the operational Whitehead Highway required careful logistical planning. Renovation work included facade improvements, roof replacement, mechanical and electrical system renovations, and significant civil-structural improvements. The new state-of-the-art library had a new multi-media center for current computer and audio/visual learning, a new children’s department, meeting rooms, and circulation spaces.
