TERMINAL A BUILDING EXPANSION
Newfield provided the general trades package for the 260,000-square-foot expansion of Terminal A and the East Concourse building. The development included 12 new gates and jet bridges, airline operations and maintenance, ticket counters, waiting areas, baggage, ground transportation, and concessions. Newfield personnel were required to obtain top security clearances for this post-9/11 facility development.

TRUCK MAINTENANCE COMPLEX
Newfield constructed Bradley International Airport’s new truck maintenance complex. Three new buildings, an extended taxiway, and underground utilities were included as part of this contract. Newfield worked closely with the Connecticut Air National Guard, the site’s adjacent neighbor, to coordinate underground utility access to provide services to the site. Our team also worked under high-security clearances to meet the needs of TSA and DOT.

ADMINISTRATION BUILDING
Newfield constructed a new 50,000sf administrative building, including offices, classrooms, locker rooms, truck wash facilities, an engine shop, carpentry areas, and six high-bay storage areas for airport maintenance vehicles.

MAIN GARAGE
A 113,000sf new garage was constructed with 24 high-bay areas for vehicle storage and a place to house fi re pumping equipment.

TENANT SHOPS
Traveling through the new Terminal is now exciting for passengers, with the help of high-end retail shops within the secured area. Newfield assisted the Paradies Shops in creating this inviting retail environment by providing a fast-track schedule delivered on a tight budget. CNBC News, Heritage Valley Travel Mart, & Brooks Brothers are now available to Bradley travelers.

HAZMAT STORAGE BUILDING
Newfield built a 5,000-square-foot fully-contained hazmat storage facility. This complete concrete structure maintains the self-containment of all systems, creating an explosion-proof environment.

AMERICAN AIRLINES
Newfield completed the fit-out of two areas for American Airlines’ relocation to Terminal A at Bradley Airport. The ground-floor area comprised support facilities for American crew and management staff members. It included offices, a conference room, a break area, a locker room, and bathroom facilities. The second-floor area consists mainly of public support with the ticketing counter and baggage handling, customer service offices, break and locker rooms, and conference rooms. Security badges were required for construction personnel.

AIRFIELD LIGHTING VAULT RELOCATION
As part of Bradley’s Master Plan to rebuild Terminal B, Newfield relocated their electrical vault from the existing Terminal B building to an underground location on an active runway at the Airport. The project comprised a new one-story building to house utility service, electrical distribution, mechanical and communications systems, and airfield equipment. Demolition of the existing vault and rebuilding of the new underground vault included distribution panels, communication equipment, transfer switches, transformers, emergency generator, fiber optic cables, lighting, and security access control. New runway lighting was installed. Coordination with air traffic control and airport operations was carefully planned, and security clearances were required for this project.

AVIS CAR RENTAL
Newfield reconstructed the entire Avis site operation at Bradley International Airport. The project included new canopies, an 8,000-square-foot return car canopy, and three preferred-customer canopies. New check-in facilities and exit booths were also provided. This project required extensive site, electrical and concrete work and presented challenging site logistics issues, as operations were ongoing throughout construction. This new facility reconstruction complements the Avis brand nationally.

CIGNA AIRPORT HANGAR
On a fast track, Newfield renovated Cigna’s aircraft hangar at Bradley International Airport. As part of the renovation, Newfield installed a new HVAC system and fabric liner covering the entire interior of the facility. The passenger entry area was also reworked to provide more coverage from the elements. Two years later, Newfield was provided a 5,000-square-foot addition for equipment storage, and in 2015 we renovated additional space within the facility.
