Newfield constructed a 23,000-square-foot multi-phased renovation to accommodate a new 34-bed inpatient mental health unit. This project aimed to provide all private and semi-private sleeping rooms along with provisions for female and geropsychiatric patients. In addition, the team offers enhanced safety and aesthetics for patients, staff, and visitors. This self-contained area allows patients to stay within the unit for their daily needs. Besides the patient rooms, two hospital wings include nursing stations, living rooms, dining areas, and administrative and conference room space. An adjacent transfer area allows patients to integrate into and out of the unit safely.

Top security is critical in this facility, incorporating features such as card readers and specialty door hardware to keep patients safe. This project required extensive coordination of all trades with occupied floors above and below.
