As Construction Manager, beginning with the Schematic Design phase, Newfield constructed the new Cutler Hall Dormitory, a 25,000-square-foot building consisting of single and double rooms for 50 students and four faculty apartments. Living and dining rooms with small prep kitchens, study rooms, and a large commons area with a mezzanine provide students with space to socialize and study. A 4,000-square-foot basement houses the mechanical space, laundry facility, and storage area for faculty and student residents.
This residence hall is at the heart of the campus, and the adjacent Island Road and Rockefeller Quad were always kept open. Intricate phasing and sequencing, site logistics and safety plans, material deliveries, and off-site storage ensured the safety of faculty and students.
